Cataract and Intraocular Lens Treatment

For patients requiring cataract treatment, the Ophthalmology Center offers a variety of intraocular lens implants to help patients see better at various distances. And to ensure that patients receive care with treatment options appropriate to each individual.

Intraocular Lens (IOL) for Cataract Surgery

The Ophthalmology Center offers the following intraocular lens options:

Monofocal IOL
A single-focus lens that allows patients to see clearly at a distance, but may still need to wear glasses for close-up work, such as reading.

Multifocal IOL
A multi-focus lens for both near and far vision, reducing reliance on reading glasses.

Trifocal IOL
A lens that provides clear vision at multiple distances, including far, intermediate, and near.

Extended Monofocal IOL
A lens that provides clear vision at far, intermediate, and near distances, with an emphasis on the intermediate distance.

Toric IOL
Monofocal lenses that correct astigmatism

Laser Treatment for Glaucoma

The Ophthalmology Center offers laser treatment for glaucoma to help manage patients with high intraocular pressure or abnormalities in the drainage of fluid in the eye.

Laser Peripheral Iridotomy
This is a laser treatment to open the angle of the eye, used to treat closed-angle glaucoma. The doctor uses a laser to create a small hole in the iris, allowing the fluid in the eye to drain better and helping to prevent acute glaucoma in those with narrow angles.

Surgical Options for Glaucoma

For some patients who require surgery, the Ophthalmology Center offers the following glaucoma treatment options:

Trabeculectomy
Surgical surgery to create a new drainage pathway from the eye to under the conjunctiva, helping to reduce intraocular pressure.

Tube Shunt Surgery
Surgical insertion of a special tube to help drain fluid from the eye, reduce intraocular pressure, and help control glaucoma.

Care for Diabetic Retinopathy

The Ophthalmology Center provides screening and treatment for diabetic retinopathy. We recommend that diabetic patients undergo annual retinal screenings to help detect abnormalities in the early stages and reduce the risk of vision loss.

Advanced Diagnostic and Treatment Technologies

Optical Head Analysis or OCT
This technology examines the retina, allowing ophthalmologists to diagnose diseases more accurately and precisely.

PRP Laser Treatment or Panretinal Photocoagulation
This involves applying a laser to the entire retina to help prevent the progression of retinal lesions.

Anti-VEGF Injection
This treatment helps inhibit the growth of abnormal blood vessels in the eye.

Endoscopic Lacrimal Duct Opening Surgery for Blocked Lacrimal Ducts

The Ophthalmology Center offers endoscopic lacrimal duct opening surgery, or DCR, for patients with blocked lacrimal ducts. Treatment options include:

External DCR
This is a traditional surgical method with a success rate of approximately 95%, but may result in minor scarring after treatment.

Endoscopic DCR
This is endoscopic surgery with no external scars, small incisions, and a success rate of approximately 98–99%.

Piyavate Hospital uses the Endoscopic DCR method to help patients recover faster and achieve better cosmetic results.
